Fall is here when I was just getting warmed up! Feels like it was just yesterday I was talking about sweater weather. Well, at least it’s not yet time for heavy layers.
Here I have a sweater refashion with a twist. It makes a perfect transitional piece. As a matter of fact, it’s been on my to-try-list ever since I saw it last year. When I noticed it was back this season, I took that as my queue.
• Hand Needle
• Marking Tool
• Matching Thread
• Oversized Sweater (collarless, basic flat knit and lightweight)
* In case you’re wondering, I used a men’s sweater in a size medium, which I got from a Saver’s thrift store.

If you’re one of the lucky ones still experiencing warm weather, surely this tutorial can be done using lightweight knits as well.
I must admit that sewing knits without the proper tools is a nightmare! Even when you’re trying to be super careful, warping is unavoidable.
So how did I get my seams so neat?? Two word, steam pressing! I think in some way the steam sorta shrinks the knit so it bounces back into shape. Just my guess!
It may not work for everyone but it’s worth a shot! Remember to always test first.
